Answers to the questions D2C, B2C and B2B marketers ask ChatGPT and Gemini about creators: which tier to use, where to find them, what they cost in India, how to split budget, how to measure pipeline, and the rules to follow.

Nano, micro or major?

Pick a tier and a platform to see audience size, best use, typical deliverable and indicative fees in India.

Fees: indicative ranges from NPR Design briefs, 2026. Niche, usage rights and exclusivity move them.

Short answer

Creators are tiered by audience size. On Instagram and YouTube, nano creators have about 1k to 10k followers, micro 10k to 100k, and major 100k or more. D2C and B2C brands get the best return from many nano and micro Instagram creators whose Reels are reused as Partnership Ads, with major creators for launches. For B2B the bands are lower. On LinkedIn, nano creators have about 1k to 10k followers, micro 10k to 50k, and major 50k or more. Nano and micro creators give niche trust at a low cost per post. Major creators give category reach for launches and events. Most B2B programmes in India work best with a core of micro creators, a wider ring of nano voices, one or two major names, and paid amplification of the best posts through LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads. YouTube, podcasts and newsletters add research-stage content that keeps working in search and AI answers.

What are nano, micro and major creators?

They are creators grouped by audience size. On Instagram and YouTube the usual bands are 1k to 10k for nano, 10k to 100k for micro, and 100k plus for major (sometimes split into macro up to 1 million and mega above). The bands are lower for B2B on LinkedIn because professional audiences are smaller and more valuable. A LinkedIn creator with 30,000 followers who are mostly IT heads is a meaningful voice in that category.

  • Nano creators are practitioners: a CA who posts about GST, a plant head who writes about lean manufacturing, an SDR who shares cold-call scripts. Their audience is small and close to their own job.
  • Micro creators have built a known voice in one topic. Buyers in that niche recognise them, and their posts get comments from peers and competitors.
  • Major creators are the recognised names in a category: founders, ex-CXOs, analysts and full-time B2B creators. They bring reach and credibility for launches, reports and events.

Follower count is only the starting filter. In B2B the deciding question is who the followers are. A 5,000-follower audience of procurement heads can beat a 100,000-follower audience of students and job seekers.

Which creator tiers work best for D2C, B2C and B2B brands?

The same three tiers do different jobs depending on how your customer buys.

D2C brands benefit most from volume: twenty nano creator Reels give Meta’s ad system twenty creatives to test, which is why we cover the UGC side separately in our UGC ads and nano influencers playbook. B2C brands with mass products need the reach of major creators, but still run micro creators for regional languages and cities. B2B brands buy fewer, more targeted posts because the buyer list is small.

How do Instagram creators work for D2C, B2C and B2B brands?

Instagram is the main creator platform for D2C and B2C brands in India, and a growing one for B2B brands that sell to founders, small businesses, agencies and creators themselves.

  • D2C: nano and micro creators make Reels showing the product in use. The best ones run as Partnership Ads from the creator’s handle, with the brand controlling budget and targeting in Meta Ads Manager.
  • B2C: micro and major creators drive reach for launches, festive campaigns and app installs. Collab posts publish one Reel on both the creator’s and the brand’s profile, so engagement counts for both.
  • B2B: works best for SMB software, fintech for small businesses, marketing tools, coworking and education. Founder and expert creators explain problems in short Reels and carousels. Senior enterprise buyers are still easier to reach on LinkedIn.

What are Instagram Partnership Ads?

Partnership Ads run from a creator’s handle with a “Paid partnership” label once the creator approves your brand in the app. You set the budget, audience and placements, and the ad keeps the creator’s name and voice. They are the Instagram equivalent of LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads, and the paid partnership label is one of the disclosure labels ASCI accepts. Agree on Partnership Ad permission, duration and Meta placements in the contract.

Which platforms do creators work on besides Instagram and LinkedIn?

Instagram leads for D2C and B2C, LinkedIn for B2B, but buyers research across several channels. Each one plays a different role in the funnel.

How do LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads work with creators?

Thought Leader Ads let your company sponsor a post published on a person’s own profile. The ad keeps their name, photo and engagement, and you target it from Campaign Manager like any Sponsored Content: by job title, seniority, company list and industry. The format started with employees only. Since 2024 you can sponsor posts from any member, including customers, partners and creators, as long as the author approves each request.

This changes the economics of creator work. You pay the creator for the post, then pay LinkedIn to put it in front of your exact buyer list. In ZenABM’s 2026 study of 2,828 ads from 211 companies, Thought Leader Ads had a 2.68% median CTR, against 0.42% for single-image ads.

  1. Agree in the contract that the creator will approve Thought Leader Ad requests and for how long.
  2. Let the post run organically for 24 to 48 hours so it gathers real comments.
  3. Sponsor only the posts that are already performing, targeted to your account list or buyer persona.
  4. Send clicks to a page built for that post’s topic, not your homepage.

Where can B2B brands find nano and micro creators for LinkedIn in India?

There is no single directory that covers Indian B2B creators well. In practice we use a mix of sources:

  • Your own followers and customers. Check who already comments on your company page and your founder’s posts. These people know the product.
  • LinkedIn search. Search posts by topic keywords, filter by recent, and note who gets comments from your buyer titles. Check creator mode topics and newsletter subscribers.
  • LinkedIn Creator Marketplace. Launched in Campaign Manager in June 2026, it lets advertisers search creators by topic. It is in alpha and limited to the US and Canada for now.
  • Creator analytics tools. Tools such as Favikon, Shield and Taplio show LinkedIn creator rankings, posting history and engagement trends. Use them to shortlist, then check audiences by hand.
  • Marketplaces. Platforms such as Passionfroot handle bookings, briefs and payments for B2B creator sponsorships, mostly newsletters and LinkedIn.
  • Events and communities. Speakers at SaaSBoomi, NASSCOM events, industry associations and niche WhatsApp or Slack groups are often the best nano and micro creators in a category.
  • Agencies. A specialist influencer marketing agency brings a vetted list, negotiated rates and contracts, which saves time when you need ten or more creators.

How do you vet nano and micro creators for B2B?

Vetting matters more in B2B because one wrong partner shows up in front of the same small group of buyers. Check these before you sign anyone.

How much do creators charge in India?

There is no public rate card for creators in India, and B2B rates differ from consumer rates. The ranges below come from briefs and negotiations we handled in 2026. Treat them as a starting point.

DeliverableNanoMicroMajor
LinkedIn post₹5k–20k₹20k–75k₹75k–3L+
Instagram Reel₹2k–15k₹15k–1L₹1L–10L+
YouTube integration (60–90 sec)₹10k–40k₹40k–2L₹2L–10L+
Newsletter or podcast placement₹3k–15k₹15k–60k₹60k–2.5L+
LinkedIn Live or webinar co-host₹10k–30k₹30k–1L₹1L–5L+

What pushes the price up or down?

  • Niche: cybersecurity, fintech, healthcare IT and enterprise SaaS creators charge more than general business creators.
  • Barter: many nano Instagram creators accept product instead of a fee for D2C brands. It still needs disclosure, and 194R TDS can apply.
  • Usage rights: Partnership Ad or Thought Leader Ad permission and reuse of content in your own ads usually add 20% to 50%.
  • Exclusivity: blocking competitors for 3 to 6 months adds cost.
  • Series vs one-off: a three-post series usually costs less per post and performs better than a single post.

How do you negotiate with major creators?

Lead with the full scope: number of posts, formats, duration, usage rights and exclusivity. Major creators price the whole relationship, so a 3-month package with an event appearance often costs less per deliverable than separate bookings. Offer value beyond cash where it fits: a speaking slot, access to your data for a report, or co-authorship of research.

How should you split budget across creator tiers?

It depends on the goal. Awareness campaigns lean on major creators. Pipeline campaigns lean on micro and nano creators plus paid amplification. Try the models we start from.

How do Indian B2B companies structure creator partnerships for lead generation?

The structures that produce pipeline share a few traits:

  • Series, not one-offs. Three to six posts over 6 to 10 weeks. Buyers need to see a topic several times before they act.
  • A useful asset to point to. A benchmark report, calculator, template or webinar that the creator genuinely recommends. Demo requests from a creator post are rare.
  • Creator-hosted events. A LinkedIn Live or closed-door roundtable hosted by the creator, with your expert as a guest, converts better than a brand webinar.
  • Account-based amplification. Thought Leader Ads targeted to your account list, so the creator’s post reaches the people your sales team is already calling.
  • Sales follow-up. Share the creator posts with your sales team so they can reference them in outreach.

How do you measure ROI of B2B creator campaigns?

Likes and impressions show reach. They do not show revenue. Set up tracking before the first post goes live:

  1. Give every creator a unique UTM link and, where volume justifies it, a dedicated landing page.
  2. Add a “How did you hear about us?” field to every form. B2B buyers often see a post, then come back weeks later through search or direct.
  3. Pass leads into your CRM with the creator as a source, and follow them to opportunity and closed-won.
  4. Report cost per qualified opportunity and pipeline value per creator. Drop or rebrief creators who drive engagement but no opportunities after two series.

  • ASCI disclosure. ASCI’s influencer guidelines apply to every creator regardless of follower count, and to any material connection: fees, free products, trips, discounts or affiliate commission. The label must be upfront. Accepted labels include Ad, Advertisement, Sponsored, Collaboration, Partnership, Employee, Free gift and Affiliate.
  • Video timing. For videos of 15 seconds or less the label must stay for at least 3 seconds; between 15 seconds and 2 minutes, for a third of the length; above 2 minutes, for the whole section where the brand is discussed.
  • Finance and health creators. ASCI requires them to show qualifications, and SEBI bars unregistered creators from giving specific investment advice. This matters for fintech, insurance and healthtech brands.
  • Brand responsibility. Both the brand and the creator are responsible under ASCI. Put the exact label and placement in every brief and check it before posts go live.
  • TDS. Creator fees usually attract TDS under section 194J or 194C, depending on the contract. Free products or other benefits worth more than ₹20,000 in a financial year fall under section 194R.
  • GST. Creators above the registration threshold charge 18% GST on their fees.
  • Contract. Cover deliverables, approval rounds, disclosure, Thought Leader Ad permission, usage rights and duration, exclusivity, payment terms, takedown and confidentiality.

This is a summary, not legal or tax advice. Confirm the details with your lawyer and chartered accountant.

How do major creators stay authentic when they partner with brands?

The creators whose sponsored posts perform best write in their own voice and only take briefs they agree with. Give them the problem, your point of view and the proof, then let them write. Avoid scripts, mandatory hashtag lists and product feature dumps. A post that includes a real disagreement or a limitation of your product usually earns more trust than pure praise.

What should B2B creators do to win brand partnerships?

If you are a nano or micro B2B creator, brands look for the same things in every pitch:

  • A clear niche and profile. A headline that names your topic and audience, a featured section with your best posts, and creator mode topics set.
  • Formats that work for professionals. Text posts with a strong first line, document carousels, short native video and LinkedIn newsletters.
  • Proof of audience. Screenshots of your follower analytics: job titles, seniority, industries and locations. This matters more than follower count.
  • KPIs that brands care about. Comments from target titles, profile visits, newsletter subscribers, clicks on past sponsored posts and any leads you can attribute.
  • A simple rate card. Price per post, per series and with Thought Leader Ad rights, so brands can say yes quickly.
  • A sustainable schedule. Repurpose long-form content into posts and batch your writing. Two to four strong posts a week beats daily posting that burns you out.

ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI answers draw on public content from LinkedIn articles, YouTube transcripts, podcasts and newsletters. When several credible people in your category mention your brand in the context of a specific problem, you are more likely to be named when buyers ask an AI assistant about that problem. Brief creators to name the problem and category in plain words, not just tag your company. We cover this in more detail in social media SEO, GEO and AEO.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between nano, micro and major creators?

The tiers are based on audience size. On Instagram and YouTube, nano creators have about 1,000 to 10,000 followers or subscribers, micro creators 10,000 to 100,000, and major creators 100,000 or more. On LinkedIn the bands are lower because professional audiences are smaller: 1,000 to 10,000, 10,000 to 50,000, and 50,000 plus. Smaller tiers offer niche depth and trust; larger tiers offer reach.

Which creator tiers work best for D2C, B2C and B2B brands?

D2C brands usually get the best return from many nano and micro Instagram creators whose Reels are reused as ads. B2C brands with mass products add major creators for reach and launches. B2B brands lean on micro LinkedIn creators, a wider ring of nano practitioners and Thought Leader Ads, with YouTube for research-stage content.

What are Instagram Partnership Ads?

Partnership Ads are Meta ads that run from a creator’s Instagram handle with a Paid partnership label, after the creator approves the brand. The brand controls budget and targeting in Ads Manager while the ad keeps the creator’s name and voice. They are the Instagram equivalent of LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads.

Are nano creators worth it for B2B on LinkedIn?

Yes, when the audience matches your buyer. A nano creator with 4,000 followers who are mostly CFOs in Indian manufacturing can be more valuable than a major creator with a broad audience. Nano creators are cheapest per post, but need more coordination because you run more of them.

How much do B2B creators charge on LinkedIn in India?

Indicative 2026 ranges from NPR Design briefs: nano creators about ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 per post, micro creators ₹20,000 to ₹75,000, and major creators ₹75,000 to ₹3 lakh or more. Niche, usage rights, exclusivity and Thought Leader Ad permissions move the price.

What are LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads?

Thought Leader Ads let a company pay to promote a post published on a person’s own LinkedIn profile, including employees, customers and external creators, with the author’s approval. The ad keeps the person’s name, photo and existing engagement, and can be targeted by job title, company and seniority.

How do you measure ROI of B2B creator campaigns?

Track each creator with unique UTM links and landing pages, then follow leads through your CRM to opportunities and closed revenue. Report cost per qualified opportunity and pipeline value, and add self-reported attribution on forms because B2B buyers often see a creator post and come back later through search or direct.

Do B2B creators in India need to disclose paid posts?

Yes. ASCI’s influencer guidelines apply at every follower count and to every material connection, including fees, free products, trips and affiliate commissions. The label must be upfront, such as Ad, Sponsored, Collaboration or Partnership. Finance and health creators also need to show their qualifications or registration.

Is TDS applicable on payments to creators in India?

Usually yes. Cash fees typically attract TDS under section 194J or 194C depending on the contract, and section 194R applies to free products or other benefits above ₹20,000 in a financial year. Creators above the GST threshold charge 18% GST. Confirm the treatment with your chartered accountant.

How much do Instagram creators charge in India?

Indicative 2026 ranges from NPR Design briefs: nano creators about ₹2,000 to ₹15,000 per Reel, micro creators ₹15,000 to ₹1 lakh, and major creators ₹1 lakh to ₹10 lakh or more. Barter deals are common at nano level for D2C products. Partnership Ad rights and whitelisting usually add to the fee.

Should B2B brands use YouTube creators as well as LinkedIn?

For most software, tools and equipment brands, yes. LinkedIn is strongest for reaching named buyers, while YouTube tutorials and comparisons keep ranking in Google and get cited by AI search for months. Many B2B programmes run LinkedIn for reach and YouTube for research-stage content.

Can NPR Design run B2B creator campaigns end to end?

Yes. NPR Design, based in Andheri West, Mumbai, handles creator discovery and vetting, briefs, contracts and ASCI compliance, Thought Leader Ads and paid amplification, and CRM-linked reporting for D2C, B2C and B2B brands in India.
